We opened Pacifier in 2004 after a frustrating and fruitless search for a suitably "cool" gift for our new niece. Minneapolis, though quite a hip town (shhh... we're trying not to let the word spread too much), was rather behind when it came to the realm of hip babies.
Lacking any other real purpose in life (save repeatedly applying for "The Amazing Race" - yes, we just dated ourselves), we decided that it made perfect sense to open a kids boutique before having any kids of our own.
We opened our first store in March of 2004 in N.E. Minneapolis. A little downtown skyway store followed in April of 2008 (we're still trying to figure out how to make it a proper homage to the Replacements). A third location opened in August of 2012 in the 50th & France neighborhood of Edina. And in November of 2015 a fourth location in St. Paul's Highland Park was opened by Kelsey Cerovac, a former store manager and now co-owner of Pacifier Highland Park. And finally, in 2016 we moved our original N.E. store across the river to the North Loop. It was a bittersweet move - while we will dearly miss N.E., the larger space at the North Loop will allow us to offer playdates, meet-ups, classes and events. We've always dreamed of being more of a resource and community for families, and the North Loop space will allow us to do that.
Needless to say, we've learned a lot about babies and kids over the past 12 years, and especially since we adopted our son 6 years ago. We're very grateful to our amazing customers, friends, and family who've supported us. We're about to enter our baker's dozen of years in business and we couldn't be more excited! Thank you for making it all possible and making it so fun.
